Part of the magic of Repo Man is the impression one gets that director Alex Cox is talented enough to make any sort of picture he wants but instead chooses to make the pulpy, exquisite, genre smoothie that is Repo Man. There are many promises inherent with B movies that never actually seem to materialize, either when watching for the first time or revisiting something you remember liking. Not the case with Cox, he delivers on most if not all our B movie wishes. Absurd, yet well worn characters? Check. Oddball plot with emotional depth? Check. Better each watch? Absolutely.
