Hideo Sekigawa directs this film with little nuance, there simply is not yet space for it. Hiroshima is a five sense transmutation of the bombing to film, it is devastating, disturbing and remains a visceral reminder of August 6th, 1945. The instance in this film when the bomb is dropped is as harrowing as any violence you might see on the silver screen or internet today. Hiroshima deafeningly announces itself as the foundation for all anti war movies moving forward.
