I’ve heard Chainsaw Man described as a gateway drug to anime, perhaps the series and its respective movie would be better described as an antidote for western animation and action movie fatigue. There’s an omnipresent playfulness in 2025’s Reze Arc no matter the stakes, and a continued commitment to visual experimentation carried over from the series. Chainsaw Man – The Movie unfolds with the momentum and euphoria of an all-time pop hit, and while a deeper interrogation of the lyrics might reveal little to be discovered, the skill and rhythm of the beat ensure it’s a song that stays on repeat.
